The Mayors Office is proposing a $300 fee for permits for productions in NYC! This will not only hurt the film/tv/commercial/music video industry but also the other industries that benefit from it... such as limo service, restaurant/catering, stores, rental companies, security, etc. It will also effect churches and schools who receive donations from productions who use their facilities for holding, or sets.
We need to keep NYC creative and free! Permits have been free sine 1966! Small budgeted projects will feel this hit.
Not too long ago NYC lost a lot of production when Governor Patterson wanted to get rid of the tax break incentive. Fringe for example left the city and went to Canada!
